Progress on the OVSI Oxygen Concentrator highlighted at the Cambridge Festival

August 5, 2022

The OVSI team led an exciting online seminar as part of the Cambridge Festival. Attendees were treated to interviews with Kobus Preller, an intensivist at Addenbrooke's Hospital and clinical advisor to OVSI, and with Mark Fryer of Cambridge Compressors, one of OVSI’s industrial partners. We also got a peek into the facilities and faces behind the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology (BiT) with a video put together using footage filmed during the Cambridge team’s visit to Bahir Dar in March.

Finally, attendees had the opportunity to pose questions to the OVSI team during a panel discussion: engineers Fasil Tariku and Yohannes Tamiru joined live from BiT, while Ben Moore joined live from Cambridge Precision Ltd and Ewa Marek from Cambridge Department for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, respectively.

It was fascinating to hear about how the team has dealt with design trade-offs in terms of developing a device that is resilient against multiple environmental pressures while also being sustainably manufactured.  A big thank you to Fasil, Yohannes, Ben, Ewa, Mark, Lara, Kobus and Andrew for making this excellent event possible.
